Democrat Staffer Fired After Facebook Posts Supporting Trump Assassination Attempt, Sharing ‘Staged’ Conspiracy Theory

Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-Miss.) has fired a congressional staffer after she posted a series of comments on Facebook expressing support for the shooter’s assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

“I was made aware of a post made by a staff member and she is no longer in my employment,” Thompson said in a statement, Sunday.

In her now-deleted posts, Jacqueline Marsaw, a case manager and field director for Thompson, expressed disappointment that the shooter missed, suggested Trump had it coming, and raised questions about whether the shooting was “staged.” (Over the weekend, the top political adviser to Democratic mega-donor Reid Hoffman peddled the hare-brained conspiracy theory that Trump somehow staged the assassination attempt to corporate media outlets).

In one of her posts, captured by the Magnolia Tribune, Marsaw wrote: “I don’t condone violence but please get you some shooting lessons so you don’t miss next time ooops that wasn’t me talking(sic).”

In another post, Marsaw wrote: “That’s what your hate speech got you!!”

In her last post before she deleted her Facebook account, Marsaw wrote: “Couldn’t happened to a nicer fellow but was it staged(sic).”

Marsaw’s posts drew an immediate backlash from Facebook users and from the Mississippi Republican Party.

“Bennie Thompson should FIRE his field director for condoning the attempted assassination of President Trump,” the Mississippi GOP posted on X. “Mississippi Democrats must repudiate these despicable statements!”

Marsaw told the Natchez Democrat that her posts were meant to be humorous and not to be taken seriously. “I got overwhelmed in the moment,”  she said. “I am a diehard Democrat.”

Thompson,  who chaired the partisan select committee to investigate the Jan. 6 riot, released a statement on Saturday condemning the assassination attempt.

“There is no room in American democracy for political violence. I am grateful for law enforcement’s fast response to this incident,” the Mississippi Democrat posted on X. “I am glad the former President is safe, and my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved.”

Earlier this year, however, Thompson introduced a bill  to completely strip Trump of his Secret Service detail, childishly titled “The Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable Former Protectees Act, or the DISGRACED Former Protectees Act.”

The bill, which has gone nowhere in the GOP-controlled House, would amend current law to terminate U.S. Secret Service protection for “those who have been sentenced to prison following conviction for a Federal or State felony, ” according to a Thompson press release.

Eight Democrat Reps. cosponsored the bill: Troy Carter of Louisiana, Barbara Lee of California, Frederica Wilson of Florida, Yvette Clarke of New York, Bonnie Watson Coleman of New Jersey, Jasmine Crockett of Texas, Joyce Beatty of Ohio, and Steve Cohen of Tennessee.

In the wake of the assassination attempt, numerous high-profile Democrats and deranged TikTokers have expressed disappointment that the gunman “missed” killing Trump, or speculated that the whole thing was “staged.”

Like Marsaw, State Representative Antonio Parkinson (D-Tenn.)  publicly mused that the shooting was “staged,” writing on X.: “I certainly hope this is not a staged act. But …”

During a performance with his band, actor/musician Jack Black said: “don’t miss Trump next time.”

Left-wing activist and writer Tim Wise suggested on X that the shooting was “staged” because Trump’s fist pump was” too perfect.”

“No way someone thinks to do that after an actual assassination attempt,” Wise said. “It’s what a MAGA script writer would write, though.”

Actress Amanda Seales also mused that the  assassination attempt was staged.

“That sh*# was more staged than a Tyler Perry production of Madea Runs for President,” Seales said in an online video. “I lived in Harlem long enough to know gunshots do not sound like making popcorn on the stove.”

Leftwing “comedian” Kristen Toomey expressed disappointment that the bullet only “skimmed his ear.”

Meanwhile, Jenna Howell, an FBI employee who works in the “Research Identity Department” shared left-wing memes expressing disappointment that Trump survived the assassination attempt.

“Jenna is a typical “pro-Palestine,” rabid “LGBTQIA+ ally,” and hater of conservatives across the board,” noted FBI whistleblower Kyle Seraphin on X. “She is confrontational and insulting to veterans with total impunity. The FBI culture encourages and empowers these low level Leftists.”

Update:

Seraphin reported on X Tuesday that Howell has been suspended pending an investigation into her posts expressing disappointment Trump survived the assassination attempt.

“This is being shared by sources familiar with the FBI’s CJIS offices,” he said.
