GoFundMe for Trump Assassination Attempt Victims Raises Over $2M in 14 Hours

The officially-designated GoFundMe page for the victims of the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania raised over $2 million in 14 hours, well over the target goal.

As reported by the Daily Caller, the fundraising page is titled “Support For Butler PA Victims – President Trump Authorized.” It was created by the Trump campaign’s national finance director, Meredith O’Rourke, and was subsequently shared by numerous other campaign spokesmen who confirmed that it was authorized by President Trump himself. Although starting with a goal of $1 million, the page had raised over $2.4 million by Sunday afternoon.

“President Donald Trump has authorized this account as a place for donations to the supporters and families wounded or killed in today’s brutal and horrific assassination attempt,” reads the description of the GoFundMe page. “All donations will be directed to these proud Americans as they grieve and recover. May God bless and unite our nation.”

There have been over 25,000 individual donors, including celebrities such as UFC president Dana White and musician Kid Rock, who each donated $50,000. Former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy donated $30,000, while Daily Wire founder and host Ben Shapiro gave $15,000.

Aside from the gunman, the lone death at the rally on Saturday was 50-year-old Corey Comperatore, a volunteer firefighter who had just celebrated his birthday and was in attendance at the rally with his daughters; he was killed while using his body to shield his daughters from gunfire.

“He was a hero that shielded his daughters. His wife and girls just lived through the unthinkable and unimaginable,” said Dawn Comperatore Schafer, Corey’s sister, in a post on Facebook. “My baby brother just turned 50 and had so much life left to experience. Hatred has no limits and love has no bounds. Pray for my sister-in-law, nieces, my mother, sister, me and his nieces and nephews as this feels like a terrible nightmare but we know it is our painful reality.”

The other two casualties are 57-year-old David Dutch and 74-year-old James Copenhaver, who both sustained serious injuries but have since been reported to be in stable condition. Other injuries included the nephew of Congressman Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), whose neck was grazed by one of the bullets.

In a moment that stunned the world, President Trump narrowly survived the assassination attempt on Saturday when a sniper’s bullet missed his head by mere inches, striking his right ear and drawing blood. President Trump ducked moments later and was surrounded by Secret Service agents, while the shooter was killed by a Secret Service sniper. As the agents got Trump back up to his feet, he told his detail to wait for a moment, then raised a triumphant fist at the crowd, drawing thunderous applause and chants of “U-S-A.”

Multiple photographs of this moment have gone viral and have already been widely declared historic and iconic images that will define President Trump and his 2024 campaign.
